Wedding Bouquets & Boutonnieres!

September 16, 2012

If you follow me on Path, you might’ve seen a few sneak peaks of what I’ve been up to:

This weekend, I got the bridal bouquets and boutonnieres done! I used wooden sola flowers and preserved plants, so these bouquets will never wilt. Some flowers were spray-painted coral to match our theme color, but otherwise, I tried to keep it as minimal as possible. Pretty decent for my first attempt at floral arrangements, eh?

For bouquets, I made a bridal bouquet, a tossing bouquet, and four bridesmaid bouquets (with fern accents for the maid of honor’s):

For boutonnieres, I made a special one for the groom, four groomsmen bundles, and a smaller one for our little ring bearer:

Center pieces are in progress!

Hello! I just bought sola flowers for my wedding bouquets and was wanting to spray paint some of them coral and a latte color. Did you find that it worked well, and what kind of paint did you use?

Thanks!
Joni

Hi Joni,

I spray-painted my flowers with the Montana Gold bottles from Utrecht Art (I’ve seen them at Blick’s too). They work decently well if you don’t overdo it or pick colors that are too unnatural (coral and latte seem fine!). I ended up using a lot of dried flowers/fillers to balance out the super bright colors. Hope that helps!
